Mick Chapman Memorial Criterium
Attracting both local riders and national stars including Robbie McEwen, this amateur to elite event thrilled the crowd in the centre of the Honeysuckle.
A high standard of competition was visible in all divisions, honouring the local legend who left a big mark on the sport.
The criterium was hosted by Hunter District Cycling Club and Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance and held in conjunction with Bikefest.
Parkour
With apparatus set up in the heart of Bikefest, members of Parkour NSW demonstrated stunning prowess giving demonstrations of the discipline.
Their limber movements coupled with impressive leaps made them a crowd favourite.
Parkour trainers also held classes, encouraging children to have a go and inspiring them to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
Bike Polo
Holding demonstration matches and giving keen onlookers a go, Sydney Bike Polo visited Newcastle over the Bikefest’s duration.
Their agile bike manoeuvring and ball skills entertained the crowd, and they were even spotted helping passes by with bicycle maintenance.
Bike Polo is taking off all around the world and enough Novocastrians were impressed by the sport that Newcastle Bike Polo formed soon after!
